Standard 22 - Cultural Capability in Native Title Services launched

The FSC's CEO, Sally Loane, proudly launched a brand new FSC Standard on Cultural Capability in Native Title Services. 

In addition to the FSC CEO, and First Nations Foundation Chairmanm Ian Hamm, the Assistant Treasurer (the Hon Josh Frydenberg MP) and Shadow Assistant Treasurer (the Hon Andrew Leigh MP) spoke in strong support of the Standard at the launch. 

Other stakeholders in attendance included the Minister for Indigenous Affairs (Senator the Hon Nigel Scullion); Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister (the Hon Alan Tudge MP); the CEO of Indigenous Business Australia, Chris Fry; the General Manager of Reconciliation Australia, Darryl Monaghan; and the Executive Director of Business Council of Australia, Matt Garbutt.

FSC Members who attended included Geoff Lloyd, CEO & Managing Director of Perpetual Limited; Paul Rohan, Head of Sandhurst Trustees; Andrew Taylor, Public Trustee of the ACT; and Emma Sakellaris, General Manager, Estates & Trusts, Equity Trustees.

The purpose of this Standard is to encourage good practice in the provision of tailored, culturally-appropriate financial services to assist Communities to achieve their goals and aspirations. In adhering to this Standard, FSC trustee members commit to working in partnership with Communities, recognising their diverse governance structures, cultural practices, and languages. This Standard is also intended to support trustees to build sustainable, respectful relationships with their clients, acknowledging that it makes good business sense to do so. Nothing in this Standard displaces FSC Members’ obligations under law.
