Paul Callaghan

General Counsel

Paul is the General Counsel of the Financial Services Council.

Paul has over 30 years’ experience as a lawyer, practising in financial services and related areas. Prior to joining the FSC, Paul worked in a variety of senior legal roles at BT Funds Management and CBA (Colonial First State Legal and the Advice Review program).

Paul also has extensive private practice experience at senior level, including as a partner with Clayton Utz, Ernst & Young and Maddocks Lawyers, and as a Special Counsel at Minter Ellison.

Paul has practised in the fields of superannuation; managed funds; insurance; platforms and advice and has been a regular contributor to regulatory reform debates over the course of his career.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from the University of Queensland and a Masters of Laws (Hons.) from the University of Sydney.

Paul is a member of the Editorial Board of LexisNexis’ Financial Services Newsletter.
