Open Banking and Open Data is set to welcome a new era of consumer power in the financial services industry. So how drastically will the landscape change? And what can all parties expect from this new regime?  

Open Banking is due to start in Australia on 1 July 2019 - allowing Australians to ultimately control their own financial data and provide them the ability to direct the transfer of information between different institutions.



Lisa Schutz | Founder and CEO | Verifier

Lisa is a founding director of The RegTech Association, an industry body with a mission to accelerate the use of regulatory technology (RegTech) to deliver corporate and community outcomes. In her own business, Lisa is pioneering customer driven data sharing and started out by solving for proof of income to solve the responsible lending challenge - by using non-bank data particularly payroll data. Lisa is on APRA’s Data Collection Strategic Industry Group and is a member of the Advisory Committee established by the Federal Government to advise on the Open Banking standards setting process. Lisa is also the author of Decisions Not Data - a book designed to help CEOs and their teams make more strategic use of data.


Michelle Lusty | Head of Sonata Product - APAC​ | Bravura

Michelle is the Head of Sonata Product - APAC at Bravura Solutions, a leading provider of software solutions for the wealth management, life insurance, and funds administration industries in Australasia, the UK, South Africa and Asia. Michelle’s responsibilities include the strategic direction and product management of Sonata, Bravura Solutions’ next generation wealth management and life insurance solution. Prior to entering the technology industry, Michelle worked in investment management for Chemical Bank in the UK, and Coutts & Co, the Private Banking subsidiary of National Westminster Banking Group, where she specialised in Asian equities.


Jamie Stevenson | MD, Global Head of Product Man. - Data & Analytics | RBC Investor & Treasury Services

Jamie leads on RBC's I&TS solutions including: data and analytics platform, investment performance and risk, compliance monitoring, fund sales intelligence and an emerging suite of advanced analytics for asset managers and asset owners. Additionally, Jamie is involved in the Advanced Client Experience program, which includes implementing transformational data capabilities across I&TS services. This program will deliver solutions that can efficiently leverage the information at the centre of the business and leverage emerging big data technologies. Key enhancements will include: flexible data access, dynamic reporting, on-demand delivery, advanced analytics, as well as information dashboards designed to align and support clients’ operational processes.


Melissa Ferrer | Partner, Data & Analytics | Deloitte

Melissa is a partner in Deloitte Australia’s Data & Analytics practice, with over 20 years of experience advising clients on Information Management, having has held roles in consulting, software development and in banking prior to joining Deloitte Australia. Melissa is passionate about helping organisations manage their data effectively as well as gain value from their data. Melissa has worked with organisations to address a number of data and technology challenges, from design of data governance models, delivery of information management strategy and roadmaps through to implementation of end-to-end information management systems.  


Janelle McQueen-Paice | National Manager, Customer Experience & Channel Development | BT Financial Group

Janelle is a senior leader who drives business growth by designing simple, engaging and friction-free customer experiences to empower Australians to make the most of their financial future. With deep experience in Financial Services at both Westpac, and its investment expert BT Financial Group, she is passionate about challenging the status quo and has led key programs across business transformation, platform technology, product development and channel development. Janelle is currently helping to build competitive advantage by re-imagining the direct wealth customer experience for BT. She champions an agile, cross-functional approach for fast business results and a Human Centred Design approach to build truly great customer experiences.
