Policy Briefing: Regulatory and Tax update on the CCIV Regime (Melbourne)

General Session

This presentation will be held at the office of EY in Melbourne and will join the Sydney presentation via video conference.

The presentation will focus on the latest version of the CCIV proposal, released earlier in January, which contains substantial and important revisions to the regime.

The presentation will particularly cover:

  • Whether the latest changes to the CCIV have addressed the major concerns raised by Australian fund managers, particularly the concerns relating to the depositary requirements and the tax rules
  • The importance of the revised proposal for the competitiveness of Australia’s funds management industry, particularly in the context of the Asia Region Funds Passport
  • How various fund management vehicles (including CCIVs, MITs and LICs) compare under the revised proposal
  • Whether fund managers should transition existing funds into the CCIV, or set up new funds as CCIVs
