Spiro Premetis is the Senior Policy Manager for Tax and Economics at the Financial Services Council (FSC). In his role Spiro manages the myriad of tax issues, offers a consolidated view on the budget and tax system, and keeps members abreast of economic trends across the FSC’s key industry portfolios.
Spiro previously worked in the FSC’s life insurance portfolio with a focus on retail life insurance.
Prior to commencing with the FSC, Spiro was an economist in the Macroeconomic Group at the Treasury (Commonwealth), including a stint working as a Departmental Liaison Officer in the Office of the Hon. Steven Ciobo when he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer.
Spiro has a Bachelor of Economics with honours and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.
During his masters studies Spiro won the Macquarie University and Risk Management Australia prize for best performance in the core unit Financial Risk Management and the Macquarie University prize for best performance the elective Exotic Options.
In his spare time Spiro is an avid soccer fan.
