Overview

On behalf of the Financial Services Council, I am pleased to invite you to the SPG Superannuation Operations Forum 2026, being held on Thursday, 22 October at Crown Sydney, alongside the FSC Retirement Summit.

Designed for superannuation operations, implementation and technology practitioners, the Forum will bring together funds, administrators, gateways, payroll and service providers with the Australian Taxation Office for two practical working sessions focused on major operational changes currently facing the industry.

The emphasis throughout the day will be on implementation: what needs to happen, what remains unresolved and how the ATO and industry can work together on the next stages.

ATTEND ONE OR BOTH WORKSHOPS
There is no cost to attend, and participants can register for either workshop or the full day.

Workshop One can be attended in person or virtually via Microsoft Teams. Workshop Two is an in person working session only.

At the conclusion of the Forum, participants are also invited to join delegates from the FSC Retirement Summit for networking drinks at Crown Sydney.

Places are limited to 80 participants per workshop and will be allocated in order of registration.

Michelle Bower
Chief Executive Officer, Gateway Network Governance Body LTD

Biography

As CEO, Michelle leads governance of the Superannuation Transaction Network (STN). Engaging with the superannuation ecosystem’s wide stakeholder interests, she is a passionate advocate for the STN and the efficiencies it delivers for the benefit of the superannuation industry and fund members.

Michelle’s expertise includes cyber risk management, challenges and actions to improve cyber resilience in the superannuation ecosystem, and is passionate about continuing to drive industry collaboration on this topic.

Michelle has over 25 years’ experience within financial services across operations and strategy roles.

Michelle is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Accounting from Macquarie University.

Jason Low
CEO, The Association for Payroll Specialists (TAPS)

Biography

TAPS is Australia's leading payroll association representing over 8,000 payroll professionals. They provide a range of services to help payroll people stay up to date with Australia's complex payroll environment, including a helpline, weekly newsletters, training and payroll health checks.
 
Jason has 30 years of payroll experience and has assisted with STP design as part of the ATO Payroll Working Group. He is also a popular writer and speaker on payroll-related topics.

Shane Moore
Project Director, Superannuation and Employer Obligations
Australian Taxation Office (ATO)

Biography

Shane leads the ATO’s core Payday Super initiatives, including enhancements to SuperStream, improvements to Single Touch Payroll (STP), and the retirement of the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH).
 
With a strong track record in delivering complex reforms across the superannuation system, Shane brings deep technical expertise and a practical, collaborative approach. He is known for building trusted relationships across industry and government, and for bringing a personal touch to driving meaningful change.
